1. Affiliate (AIAAff) - A person interested in advocacy and agrees to uphold the aims, objectives, and goals of the association.

2. Member (MAIA) – A person who holds a recognised qualification and or registration licence and has at least two years proven advocacy experience.

3. Associate (AAIA) – A person who holds a recognized qualification and or registration licence and has at least four years proven advocacy experience.

4. Associate Fellow (AFAIA) - A person who holds a recognized qualification and or registration licence and has at least seven years proven advocacy experience.
$325.00 Annually
5. Fellow (FAIA) - A person who holds a recognised qualification and or registration licence and has at least ten years proven advocacy experience.
$410.00 Annually
6. Life Fellow (FAIA (Life)) – A person as decided by the committee that has given outstanding service to the advocacy industry or to the association.
7. Retired member at any level, pensioner or student may join at an appropriate level that demonstrates their reason to be in this category and retain or be entitled to all privileges that apply to their membership level.

(1) Note: Recognized qualifications in general
· A law degree or postgraduate qualifications in legal studies
· A business degree or post graduate studies in business that have a significant focus on advocacy.
· A degree or post graduate studies in arts with a significant focus on advocacy.
· A lobbyist registered in any state or territory or the Commonwealth of Australian
· A nationally recognized Diploma or higher in social sciences, legal studies or business with a significant focus on advocacy.
(2) Note: Membership through significant experience
· A person may be awarded an alternative category of membership by the committee via presentation of evidence of significant experience in advocacy that does not meet the qualification requirement.

(4) Note: The Chief Executive Officer has discretionary power to wave or reduce fees for members and applicants for membership that are in hardship or have temporary difficulties. these should be briefly outlined in a request for waving or reducing fees. A decision will be for the ensuing AIA financial year.

* A brief biography
* A full work history
* Copies of any qualifications
